Simon Admits Marc Zwibler Superiority

JAKARTA - although forced to play Rubber Game, Indonesian men's singles, Simon Santoso, succeeded in overcoming Germany's Marc Zwiebler in the first round of Indonesia Open 2014 men's singles. Simon grabbed a ticket to the second round after winning a thrilling match with tight 21-12, 13-21 and 21-19.

Simon admitted that Marc Zwiebler as a tough player and is not easy to be tamed. Simon is right as he was forced to struggle in a prolonged match although winning in the first set.

However, after the match, Simon said the wind factor is one thing that helped Zwiebler stun him.

"The wind was stronger in the second round so it was hard for me to collect points, apart from that I was indeed impatient, I tended to rush to end the game," he said to reporters in a press conference, Wednesday, (18/06/2014).

In the third set, the match was even more thrilling, both players tried hard to give their best although in the beginning of the set, at some points Simon managed to take a significant lead 4-0, 7-2, until 11-7. After switching sides, Zwiebler surprisingly led at 12-13 for Zwiebler.

The chasing point drama happened until the game ended. The home team's supporters were thrilled when Zwiebler reached match point leaving Simon 2 points behind. Simon however refused to give up as he equalized and forced a deuce.

Simon's first serve when the score is 20-20 was followed by Zwiebler powerful smash but hit the net. Simon did the same with the second serve and again followed by Zwiebler's powerful smash but again hit the net. The crowds cheered because their favorite player could overcome Marc Zwiebler.

Asked about his target after stunning Zwiebler, Simon said, "one step at a time, hopefully I can win every match,"
