JAKARTA - Throughout the Indonesia Open tournament first held since 1982, there have never been any Denmark's champions in men's singles or any other European countries.

However, at Indonesia Open 2014 which has just been completed, a new record is carved by a Denmark badminton player who has numerous tattoos all over his body, Jan O Jorgensen. Jan O, he often called, made a statement that, "there will be any European champions in Jakarta" mindset has to be dismissed starting from today.

Jan Ostergaard Jorgensen, a 26 year old man who was born in Aalborg, makes a new history after successfully overcoming Japan's top seeded player in men's singles, Kenichi Tago, who happens to be the fourth seeded player, in a two game match, 21-18, 21-18.

The new title achieved is his Super Series Premier level tournament in his career as a professional badminton player. It adds his achievements, such as Denmark Open 2010, France Open 2013, and European Championship in 2013.

Jan O Jorgensen's journey at Indonesia open Super Series Premier 2014 started with a victory over Japan's men's singles player, Takuma Ueda, in the first round followed by another victory over Mohammad Arif Abdul Latif from Malaysia in the second round. Son Wan Ho was his next victim in the quarter final and Chen Long in Semifinal, and lastly, Kenichi Tago in final.

"I still don't believe I am the champion. This is my best achievement in my career," said an athlete with long blond hair after the match. "I think I just made a history today," he said.
