Jakarta | The Men’s Doubles event remains to be Indonesia’s biggest hope to win title in Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. Looking at the recent performance of the three Indonesian Men’s Doubles pairs, it is plausible to predict that Indonesia can win the title once again. Then, let’s see how the chance and the challengers to the Three Indonesian Men’s Doubles may affect their journey in this year’s tournament?

The World’s No. 1 pair, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon who bears the titleholder status certainly has the biggest chance to win the title again this year. Likewise, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto also have similar opportunity as the Minions to win the title this year. Looking at the records of Indonesia Open that have been organized 37 times throughout the history, Indonesia managed to grab 22 Indonesia Open titles from the Men’s Doubles event.

Nonetheless, they should not undermine the threats from the Japanese, Chinese and Danish pairs. Below are some of the most noteworthy opponents that are predicted to hinder the journet of Kevin/Marcus, Hendra/Ahsan and Fajar/Rian in Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000.

  • Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda (Jepang)

Kamura/Sonoda’s performance in 2019 are said to be consistent, out of the last 9 individual tournaments that they have played this year, the pair managed to be the champion during the Singapore Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 500, be the runner up of the Australian Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 300, German Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 300 and Malaysia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 750

The Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 will certainly be a different type of challenge to Kamura/Sonoda. This is because, throughout the history of Indonesia Open, no Japanese Men’s Doubles player has ever won any title in Istora. Will Kamura/Sonoda’s consistency help them to conquer Istora?

  • Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen (Tiongkok)

The Chinese pair, Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen has a great record throughout 2019. Li/Liu has only lost 5 times from the last 24 matches they have played in 2019. Although they have only collected one title this year, from Malaysia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 750, but the World’s No.3 pair also played a big part in helping China to win the Sudirman cup 2019. Certainly Li/Liu is one of the potential pairs to be anticipated by the three Indonesian Men’s Doubles pairs.

  • Kim Astrup/Andres Skaarup Rasmussen (Denmark)

Among the World’s Top 10 Men’s Doubles rank that was released by BWF as of 7 th of June 2019, the Danish pair, Kim Astrup/Andres Skaarup Rasmussen is listed as the only European pair to be on the top rank. The Danish pair’s performance in the Badminton world is undeniably recognized well by the public.

However, Denmark is yet to win title from the Indonesia Open Men’s Doubles event. Denmark’s most notable achievement comes from Mathias Boe/Casten Mogensen who managed to be the runner up of the 2012 and 2017 Indonesia open.

During the recent Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2019 BWF World Tour Super 500 that was held in Istora Senayan, Jakarta in January 2019, Astrup/Rasmussen only managed to reach the semi-final round.
